I love to go whale watching in Maui. Sometimes I can even see them from the plane as we're flying over.

Mmmmmm I love whales. I even confuse the heck out of fat hating trolls who call me one. I thank them profusely :D Whales are wonderful, graceful and very intelligent creatures and I find it a complement to be called one.

I've only been on one whale watching tour, the morning I flew into St John Newfoundland to attend my brother's wedding (he married a local girl. I started something when I found my spouse in Canada, my brother had to do the same hehehehehe). I'd only had a couple hours sleep and luckily no food.

I'd taken our camcorder, the older kind where you only had the view finder and this is when I discovered I can get seasick. When we'd stopped to let the humpback whales come close, everything in the view finder intensified, esp when I zoomed.

URP! That did it, much to the chagrin and bemusement of my ex-Navy father. Luckily I was able to wait for the poor young lady who beat me to the head, or else I was heading for the aft. I hate disgracing myself like that in public.

But for that one unfortunate moment, the trip was lovely, the whales were awesome and the puffins were way kewl! I really need to upload that video to my computer and process it into a movie to post on YouTube. The segment of the whale swimming under the boat and what you see is a giant shadow was breathtaking!

For a former seaman who loves the sea I can't really say I have any feelings towards whales, I have been to Wales, which was nice.

@JB: Perhaps your daughter's affinity indicates that whale is one of her totem animals. Whales are the record keepers of the planet. I think that kind of explains why my dream was so powerful.
