Thanks to the kids my mom used to babysit, I once had the theme song from the Smurfs stuck in my head for about a year. I’d always find myself humming it or tapping it out with my fingers or toes. I never want to hear it again for fear it gets stuck in my head again. Yikes.

I agree, it could have been some Celine Dion song or Nickleback, and that would be FAR worse.

Yeah, i usually try to insert a different song into my brain, and that may work for an hour or two, but before i even realize i’m doing it i’ll be singing: “…and you noticed that butt was STUFFED deep in the jeans she’s wearing, i’m hooked and i can’t stop starin’ OOOH BABY! I wanna get witchya, and take your pict-chya – my homeboys try to warn me but that butt you’ve got mmmaka me so Horny!”… usually i clue in about the second line in and by then it’s already too late.

the feeling is mutual. and planting an earworm on purpose is just plain mean.

yeah, i planted several of my earworms throughout the post: The Song That Never Ends, Baby Got Back, The Big Mac Jingle, 867-5309 (Jenny), The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room… and those are only the ones that bother me on a regular basis.

Funny you should ask – since the title of your post is one of the songs that sticks in my head. Hehe. It doesn’t bother me much these days though. I used to have earworms really bad, but lately I’ve been less stressed and they haven’t been bothering me. I don’t think they ever lasted as long as yours, though. Mine traded out too quick. One after another after another.

I love you. I used to plant an earworm in Mildly Amusing OCD Stepmother before I left for school each day. I would come home to her singing the Mickey Mouse Song and shaking her fist at me.
