I was all waxing poetic about the purple plates yesterday, and got some interest that faded to nothingness pretty quickly. One kind soul Marie in Maine told me that the registration page was returning an error message.

Thanks, Marie. She is sending me a paypal payment and I will process the order directly. If you have had the same problem, you can paypal me directly at psychicgeek at gmail dot com. Be sure to include proper shipping.

I can see that I have my day weekend life cut out for me. I am php challenged, and the entire site is php. It was done as a school team project, and although the code was clunky and I couldn’t alter it without getting a saucy error message about php functions, it worked okay until the hosting server didn’t bill me for renewal, so the domain name and everything went bye-bye. I had some backup files on my blog server, the host of which is an awesome guy. If you want web hosting, Rob is the bestest evah! Ask Ree.The other guy? Not so much.

So, now I have to modify my files that exist on the blog server. That means if you are viewing it in IE6, it will look wonky, because I coded it for IE7 and Firefox. The defunct one with the working admin pages and database was coded for IE6.

I really wish I could code it so that you didn’t have to register and log in. That part of the school team project (read: total nightmare) was designed so the kids could create a forum, which I eliminated because it was promptly filled with p0rn spam.

If you don’t hear from me, it would be because I am tearing out my hair.

Joe Pennant, an internet buddy since 1997 or so wrote the first blog I ever read. He still has it. He’s into mad photography these days, and tells his stories mostly in images.

He doesn’t comment much, but this is the best comment ever!

I lost a few things in the wordpress update. Or I think that is what did it. Some of my settings reverted back to a previous time, like my CSS changes, and my header instantly lost its hearts, not that they were anything to grieve.

What I do grieve is that people who were on my blogroll, suddenly are not. So, I am asking that you tell me in the comments of this post if you want to be on my rotating image blogroll.

There are going to be some changes here in the next week or so, starting with a big honking ad in my sidebar. Sorry, but I have to pay my hosting fees somehow. Once the ad is in place, I will be begging for Stumbles again. It’s how I get paid. For traffic. Yay for StumbleUpon.

Shortly after that, there will most likely be a bit of a site redesign. Yes, I will be going to a white background, unless you can convince me that it’s a bad idea.

Other than that? My brain just shut down. I blame the carbs.

I’ve been tinkering all weekend long. Putting up the tree, decorating the house, and making english toffee to send away. The tinkering that drove me insane was trying to redesign a live site. You’d think it would be easy because WordPress has all these ready made themes, but it’s easier to do your own thing without messing with somebody else’s code.

I lost my right sidebar for most of the weekend. It was suggested that I just get a new theme. I preferred to beat this one into submission. Actually, it was more like coaxing, but why quibble?

Meanwhile, I scooped up some free clip art to make me a festive banner. You must remember that I’m a database geek, not a graphics geek. Graphics require better eyesight and more creativity than I have readily available. If you came by during the weekend, you saw all kinds of weirdness, but no new posting. This is just a reminder that I am working on something for tomorrow.

I’m tired. But I don’t think I can leave that stupid banner alone.

Shameless self-promotion: Show me some freaking love. Go on, vote. You know you wanna. You have to register first, but you will make me very happy. Check your junk mail folder for the registration confirmation. Oh, and if it says voting is closed? It is for 2007, but this award is for 2008.

My site was nominated for Freakiest Blogger!
