Nan has challenged me to write a true ghost story. Which to choose? I have plenty.

I have slept in the deathbed of two different people. Different beds. The second was completely uneventful.

The first was old Dan Coakley’s deathbed. Yes, the bed came with the house. It was an estate sale. That worked for us because we had sold our house and everything too expensive to move, and used what we could in the death house located right next door to the house where I was born.

They look too happy to be near a haunted house, don’t they? One time, my pyro brother, the one on the left, saw something that made his eyes go very wide, and his face go white. He was too young to talk then. We can only guess.

My mildly amusing OCD stepmother often heard a baby cry in this house.

I could live with that. What got me was this one night, (at band camp?) when I had prepared myself for sleep with my beauty routine of putting my hair in rollers, and tying a scarf around my head to keep said rollers in place, I noticed a buzzing in my ears.

A very loud buzzing.

I extracted a beetle from my headgear.

Still buzzing.

Went to the mirror, saw that my head was covered in beetles. And my bed as well.

Imagine the freaking out. Head slapping and screaming ensued.

I think old Dan was objecting to a female in his bed wearing hair rollers. Maybe it pissed him off when his wife did that. Because nothing says no nookie like a woman wearing painful bristley rollers on her head. Unless of course, she sews the hem of her nightgown shut.

He got his way. I never wore hair rollers to bed again.

I was tagged, oh, a long time ago by Diva of I Am The Diva fame for this frisky little meme that lists seven quirky things about me.

Rules:

Link back to the person who tagged you. Check.

Write your seven quirky things. Soon to be checked

Terrorize 7 other people whose blogs you visit. Scary. Link to them in your meme post.

Tell them what you have done in their comments section.

Beg their forgiveness.

Seven Quirky Things About Me (as if you don’t have enough information what with my 100 things page and all):

I have slept in the beds of several people who have died in those very beds. No big.

One of the beds was in a very paranormally active house. I woke up in the middle of the night once with huge beetles infesting my hair. They were trapped inside the chiffon scarf I wore around my head to keep my hair rollers in place. Yes, I’m that old.

I cannot follow a recipe to the letter. There is something in me that makes me think that I can make it better, my own way. Therefore, recipes are considered guidelines or suggestions.

I have wicked negotiating skills. I sold cars when I was quite young, and learned a lot from that. One time, I sold a car I bought privately back to the company that made it for $200 less than I paid for it. I had driven it for two years. The company representative was in awe of my skills.

I once had an online romance. It ended before we met, and I was totally devastated. He was an amazingly talented healer, but so much younger than I.

The first food I remember eating was lobster scrambled with eggs. And fried dulse, and bread and molasses. Yes, I am that old.

The presents I love the best are the homemade ones. Those of you who wish to present me with a kickin camera, I will totally forgive you if you didn’t make it yourself.

People I want to tag:

Warrior Woman, because this is her first meme.

Ass Burger Boy, ditto

Old Knudsen, because he hates memes.

Zoe, because she is my internet bitch

Nan, because I love to read her posts.

Teeni, because she rocks

Jenny, likewise
