She is a veritable gold mine of stories, and good nature. Kindness, and the ability to find the ridiculous in everyday things. She is quicker with a comeback than anyone I’ve met.

Bubbles told me a true story while I sat on a swing in her backyard. I laughed so hard I had to change my underwear. You gotta love friends who make you pee your pants laughing.

As she told it, one of the residents, Archie, was taking a turn for the worse. Fearing he was fixing to take the long dirt nap, the staff had summoned his children to be by his bedside.

In his confused state, Archie squinted at the circle of 70-somethings that were the fruit of his loins, and croaked asked aloud: “Who are these people?”

Bubbles: “They’re your children, Archie. They’ve come to visit you.”

Archie:(feebly shaking his head) “I must be some god-damned old.”

You can’t make this stuff up.
