The original Bible as in the old testament, you see we usually refer to that as the bible and the new testament as the new testament, separate books, nothing alike, putting them together and calling them the bible is like saying the new star wars films are a part of the original 3 movies. It all came from some Arabs anyway and is all mythology I'm off to worship at the shrine of shrek.

Cults, sects the Diocese of leeds, kill them all and let god sort out his own as a peace loving Christian once said.

Agreed that a leopard cannot change it's spots.
BTW--I was once a part of a "cultish" hardline Baptist group.
no movies, or TV and no makeup on the ladies... just nuts it was!
I'm free now though!

Al: That is what I was referring to. I'm not fond of painting in broad strokes, but that is the nature of the institution in those days, and most aspects, until today.
They may have lost a lot of their power/money, but not too much has been changed about the hierarchy.

I think most folks have "The CHurch" of 800AD and prior confused with "churches" today.
When you make a comment like this:
"The great unwashed were not to have access to the mysteries, because the idea was to depend upon the church elite for that."
... I hope you realize you are referring to the Catholic CHurch and her predicessors and/or spin-offs.
Today's "churches" are mostly independent of that dark hypocrisy and are more free-thinking. Even Catholics of today call themselves "Christians" in an effort to appear more tolerant and mainstream.
Just because one believes and accepts the Bible does not mean his knuckles drag the ground.
Also, Knudsen, please tell me where the "original Bible" is located as I would like to do the comparison that you have done. :rolleyes
I'm going to subscribe here and join in with you folks more often it that's ok.
AL
