Skinny Bitch likes to mess with her kids heads and all, but admits in the early days, she and Mr. SB didn’t always think things entirely through.

Heartstopper was about five and was watching the Olympic Figure Skating Singles event on television with them, when she very confidently declared: “I can do that!”

Whereupon Skinny Bitch told Heartstopper that she would encourage her and support her.

First thing tomorrow, they would take her out and buy her figure skates and she would sign her up for the Olympics.

And then she gave it no further thought beyond “Cute kid.”

About an hour later, Heartstopper came out of her room, tears streaming down her face.

In a very small voice, she said “I don’t think I can do it.”

That’s one instance of perverse parenting Skinny Bitch felt really bad about.

On a higher note, her brother Georgie went to the Canada Games with his sport.

Great new contest! Four prizes up for grabs, including an Ipod Nano. Check it out on Bloggernoob and tell him that witchypoo says hi!

Oh the overwhelming stress of it for a 5 year old.

Still, Skinny Bitch did just save oodles of money in lessons and figure skates.

Your friends are as knivingly smart as you are.

(is that a real word??)

B'dum B'dum Says:

my mother was my first teacher, so how she put me off ever wanting to compete was never letting me win anything in case other parents would complain.

unfortunately it just made me competitive about everything that doesn’t involve any competition.

Loralee Says:

Awe. That would make anyone feel bad.
I’ve been putting off letting James participate in theater because of my history. I finally caved and now wonder if I made a bad decision keeping him from it for so long.

Blarg.

God. I could have saved so much on dumb lessons with my kids if I’d done that.

“Here. Here’s a balance beam. Good luck!”

Instead of torturous years of gymnastics, and we wound up the same f–king place.

“I can’t do it.”

Sigh.

On one hand, I think its great that she tried to support her child. Thats something a lot of kids never get. On the other hand, Holy Shit! Nothing like a little pressure! LOL

The Over-Thinker Says:

What Witchy did tell us is that Heartstopper went on to be a zamboni driver for the winter olympic games. Heartstopper likes to ‘keep it real’…

Yup. I didn’t do sports, and look where I am now.
Wait a minute! Maybe there was something to that whole getting off your butt thing after all. Oh well, I can always write about that someday when I’m older and working at wal-mart or some place I hate. lol.

Wow! I just read your 100 list and your about me page plus I see your name on practically all the blogrolls of everyone I know. I decided it was about time I made a visit. I am a Gemini by the way and I might be your long lost twin. Your 100 list could be mine. I owned a health food store for 25 years until I retired 1 1/2 years ago. I became disabled from arthritis. I need new knees. My bedroom is crystal city. I was the first person ever to sell crystals on Cape Cod back in, oh jeebus I can’t remember when, I’m old too. I have two children. I don’t want to just dump myself on you but actually I do. We have so much in common including wicked senses of humor. I really hope you come visit me at my blog. I always read your great comments on everyone else’s blog. I think I might need a little Witchypoo in my life. I hope I am not being to forward.

And yet, somehow, we all manage to grow up in spite of the traumatizing effects of our parents. I told my boys the other day when they were complaining about something or other, “Oh honeys, I am not perfect. So y’all will just have to get a grip and move on.” Their therapists will love that in years to come!
