Once again, it is time for Ask Witchypoo, as if I knew anything. Jenny would like to think I do, so she asks:

There’s much debate about the big 2012 “event” that’s going to change the world forever. Do you have any visions? Thoughts about what may or may not happen? Or do you just think it’s another Y2K everybodys-panties-in-a-wad prediction?

Dec. 21, 2012, at 11:11pm, is when the Maya’s “Long Count” calendar marks the end of a 5,126-year era. The research available is enough to make a person dizzy, but what I get from it is that the calendar resets at that time of amazing planetary alignment. We had another powerful planetary alignment in May of 2000. This did not end the world as we know it with a bang, but rather, heralded many changes in the earth’s weather patterns, to name only one. Remember that the earth wobbled on its axis at the time of the tsunami Dec 26, 2004. The earth shifting its axis is part of the predictions for great planetary upheaval. I see this resetting of the Mayan calendar as a similar heralding of changes to come. And they aren’t good.

When I look ahead, I look further than 2012, and all I see is grey. Grey because it is a land devoid of vegetation. I see even more suffering and hardship, and I don’t much like it. People’s ugliness coming out to bring about survival of the ruthless. I just don’t want to live in a world without ruth.

Knudsey has some questions as well, but that is going to be part two. For now, I will wish you happy St. Patrick’s Day, and eyeball that pitiful shamrock on my header. It’s going DOWN soon. Bonus! St. Patrick’s Day Puzzle!

So basically, rack up your credit cards, take fabulous vacations and go into a lot of debt… because in 4 years it won’t matter anyway. Ha ha ha … just kidding.

Wow–your vision is just as cheery as I’d hoped. You stocking up on canned foods and bottled water?

Jenny: I think the year 2032 is the time I see everything grey. By then it will be too late for those who have to learn that you can’t eat money. I expect I will be dead by then.

Old Knudsen Says:

Never mind all that scary scary aren’t we scary mumbo jumbo I got 3.29 c’mon over thinker get 3.19 I dare ya. A land devoid of vegetation? will there be corn to fuel the cars? thats where we are going wrong, when I say we I don’t mean me as I had nothing to do with it I hate corn it goes right through me. Maybe grey is the new green and instead of chrome we have grey in the future, do we have any of those bloody flying cars yet? What do the Mayans know? they didn’t even have the wheel, not so smart huh? I saw a Mayan the other day and I punched him on the back of the head and said, “that wasn’t on yer calendar now was it?” In 2032 I’ll probably still have a blog and if it doesn’t happen you’ll be sorry, well not really. The world is also supposed to end in May and July this year according to two cults, who cares when the world ends ? the earth will still be here but as for people its better off without them.

UG. Not a way I want to spend my Golden Years, that is for certain.

lceel Says:

10,000 years ago (2 of the Mayan resets ago) man started using agriculture. 5000 years ago (1 Mayan reset ago) the first ‘nations’ arose - civilization more or less kicked into gear. It seems to me that the Mayans resets - if they actually mean anything at all - have more to do with a revolution in thinking than massive geologic changes. This next ‘reset’ takes place as the planets and the sun all sort of line up with the Galactic center - an event that takes place every 24000 years, or so. Does it mean the ‘end of the world?’ It didn’t end 24000 years ago and I don’t think it will now, either. This event has happen thousands of times. Mama Earth is still here. And will continue to be here after 2012.

lCeel: You nailed it. The earth will survive. People, however, have been using it like a toilet for too long. I think the people that do survive will find it a tough go.

Marie in Maine Says:

I also think that the earth is a biological force. Perhaps the Earth is not a thinking entity, but maybe we humans as a species are going to live our term and then give way to another as a natural progression of things.

We are born as hairless monkeys and we will die as hairless monkeys. Nothing we do or say in between really makes that much difference, in terms of the long span of the history of the Earth. No insult to the monkeys intended.

Witchy, your vision reminded me of the opening scene of Terminator 2.

How do you know the difference between mere thoughts and actual ‘visions’. I mean…aww hell forget I asked.

Lately though, I too have a recurring picture of a grey world(and btw, Google Alerts for 2012 sent me). I’m like looking out over a field where something should be ripe, and the sun is sorta somewhere, but it’s light is more greenish, but the earth and everything in sight is grey. Most everyone is ‘gone’. Danger over all horizons, and I think something more is about to happen. It’s so quiet and still, and then nothing. How do I go anywhere? I guess something happens swiftly and I die, cuz I don’t think anything AT ALL happens(in this plane or whatever) ever again.

…and if you’re gonna store water, make it in stainless steel. Plastic bottles are a plague, search phthalates and/or bisphenols

I’m LMAO over my cup of coffee… imagining witchy and warriorwoman looking out over the greyness of the changed landscape, realizing they’ve lived another day, smokin’ ciggies (now rolling their own because it’s a bitch to get to the nearest big city and get ones with filters), drinkin’ moonshine (because like everything else you have to rely on your own devices at this point)… AND WORRYING THAT THEIR BOTTLED WATER WILL HAVE PHTHALATES.

I love you people! Scare the hell out of me and give me a laugh all in the same minute.

Well, chill out people :) I was asked about 2012, and saw it as a resetting of the Mayan calendar, with a phenomonal planetary alignment. I just felt it was a trigger, a herald if you will. And I’m sorry if what I see thirty years from now is so grey and depressing, but it’s just that. What I see. Your mileage may vary.

josey Says:

this was a fascinating post. i volunteer and work for a biodynamic farm/garden/non-profit org that’s constantly on the move promoting sustainability. in the last year i’ve learned a lot about massively commercial agriculture (esp the corn scene, GMOs, ethanol, etc…), alternative energy (global warming, blahblah…) and all that jazz. (i’m not saying i agree with all of their views tho!) all the people who are promoting this are saying if we dont take steps RIGHT NOW to change things, that the grey, barren landscape is definitely a huge possibility. HUGE. we have no clue! we just useuseuse, wastewastewaste, dumpdumpdump. its gonna catch up with us just as fast as we’ve made all these industrial and technological changes…

witchyp, what a vivid analogy that we use the earth like a toilet. its so sad and devastatingly true.

sorry to be all serious when everyone else is giggling…hehe…of course there IS some humor in the situation ;) however, i plan on still being alive for a while and i’d prefer to live in peace and have food, shelter, and safety. it’s really something everyone should think about–especially if you care at all about what people in the future will be living in. i think everyone’s opinions and thoughts are very interesting!! :)
